After the journey and the hikes, today I'm sharing wonderful photos and information about the Greek beaches. Martina, Atlas, Tiago & Neroli were able to enjoy mostly sunny weather during their "winter holiday" — and combined with deserted beaches, that's enough to make any dog owner's heart leap for joy!
The Beaches ♥
Why have we always come back here?
I first came to Greece with my family in 1979. I was 4 years old, and since then I've spent countless summers in Agios Andreas. Looking at the map of the Peloponnese, you can see that water surrounds it on all sides.
We always stayed in the apartments run by the Kassimiotis family, who have long since become part of our circle of friends. Kostas Kassimiotis, the son, still runs this charming little family-owned complex together with his brother Adonis and his sons — a place that draws loyal guests from all over the world.

Dogs on the Beach
Best time to travel
The last time I was here with the dogs was in July 2017, and we spent most of our time at Kostas's beach. The Spanish dogs are used to the heat, but even for them it was a real effort — they barely moved at all 😅
As I already wrote in Part 1: peak season on the Peloponnese is July and August, and it really is extremely hot. In September and even into October you can still swim comfortably and you'll find noticeably fewer tourists around. So if you're thinking of coming with a dog — which is no problem at all in Greece — I'd recommend spring or autumn.
I never really had any trouble bringing the dogs along, but they're not exactly the size of a dachshund and therefore need quite a bit of space plus one (or two) sun umbrellas. The mostly German and Austrian holidaymakers didn't seem bothered by Atlas and Tiago at all.

Where else to go?
Koroni
There's another beach right by our village where we always had the place to ourselves in summer. It is quite stony, though. You can take a stroll and watch the waves in complete peace and quiet.
If you drive towards Koroni, there's a kilometres-long sandy beach and a smaller beach. We call the latter the dog beach, because the Galgos can run wild there too. It's enclosed by rocks and has lovely fine sand underfoot.
Atlas is fine running loose in other places too, but with Tiago I feel safer when I can't see for kilometres ahead. And little Neroli just hops along at my side anyway — she'd rather not stray too far from Mama 😄

Tsapi
The beach at Tsapi is on the other side of Koroni. We reached it on one of our hikes. It borders a taverna and a small campsite.
The beach where you can see Atlas dashing around in this video is one we reached on foot from Tsapi.
There really are so many ways to get to the sea here.
We've since explored the other side of Koroni as well, where there's yet another very long sandy beach. Further on, past Methoni on the other side, is where we'll be heading on our next holiday. 😊

Cars & Apartments
Renting a car is no problem at all. Kostas himself even runs a small car rental where you can hire a vehicle for a day or two to explore the area.
If you're interested in his apartments or his car rental, check out his website or call him directly on +306932551251.
Those were our tips for a carefree holiday in Greece!
We hope you enjoyed the trip with us and are already looking forward to more Hundereisen with us :)
Warm regards
Martina, Atlas, Tiago & Neroli
