The Story of Karin and the Shop
Karin has been sewing for quite a while, but for the past 4 years she's been doing it for Monty's Pfotenshop. The name came about because one of Karin's dogs is called "Monty" and she thought it had a nice ring to it. She certainly had plenty of other names from her bunch to choose from :D
Right now there are 8 dogs in total, though 2 of them belong to Karin's son. Since they all live under one roof and naturally spend a lot of time together, those two are counted in as well.
The pack consists of the 2 pugs Maja and Chipsi, the two Frenchies Monty and Riku, the 2 Borzois Ruby Rose and Louis, a Podenco named Kami and a little Dachshund girl who answers to Gwentolyn.
It all started back in Vienna with a regular household sewing machine. The original idea was simply to sew for her own bunch, since kitting out that many dogs can really add up.
Through a friend who was a big fan of Karin's work and wanted collars for her own dog too, the idea was born to make it professional. And so one thing led to another:
"Monty's Pfotenshop was born!"
The Products from Monty's Pfotenshop
Karin Fehringer crafts wonderfully beautiful genuine leather dog collars for all breeds and sizes with her sewing machine. She is a specialist in sighthound breeds, sews custom-fitted harnesses and also safety harnesses for particularly anxious dogs.
Customers can choose from more than 200 unusual, exclusive trims and soft leather. That doesn't exactly make the decision any easier, we can confirm that ;)
Monty's Pfotenshop places great importance on quality and durability in their personal collars and harnesses.
Since dogs are very close to Karin's heart, it's extremely important to her that they are well and properly equipped. Harness and collar must fit perfectly and must not restrict the dog's movement. Her motto: "If it doesn't fit, we make it fit!" The safety factor is also a major part of her work. It does happen that she finishes a harness or collar on the very same day when a dog's safety is at risk — meaning it gets measured and delivered the same day.
Team Hundereise Puts It to the Practical Test.
Martina knows Karin because she was Atlas's foster mum. So naturally one thing led to another, and collars from Monty's Pfotenshop were picked up here and there. When "brother" Tiago moved in with Atlas after 2 years and "brother" Neroli followed 2 years after that, last year it was time for some coordinated matching collars ;)
This year it was time for new harnesses — the boys had well and truly earned ones that were colour-coordinated, size-adjusted to each of them, plus the extra feature of a tab for the GPS tracker.
Then last September it was finally my turn, and Murphy got his first custom-made harness just before the Istria holiday — naturally, if you know me: in turquoise. By now we've gone well past just the one :) He also got a dark brown one for the autumn/winter season:
Since the quality of the products speaks for itself, Archie, who moved in last November, also got a brand-new wardrobe pretty quickly:
Durability
Whether Team Hundereise is at the lake, in the mountains, by the sea or "just" out and about on home turf — the harnesses and collars keep up with everything, secure and perfectly fitted.
Archie, for example, has a lovely habit of dragging himself along the asphalt. As a result, the trim on the underside has roughed up a little, but it hasn't torn, and the webbing shows absolutely no signs of wear.
[It's worth being aware that some trims are more delicate than others. Karin is happy to advise on this.]
Since neither dead frogs nor muddy puddles are safe from Murphy & Archie, the harnesses have already passed the washing machine test more than once!
And looking at the Galgos Atlas, Tiago & Neroli, you can see that the products are both elegant & stylish while also perfectly keeping up with speed, water activities & the art of doing absolutely nothing.
