At the beginning of May, my favourite person and I spent a short holiday at Weinloft 2 on the Eisenberg in southern Burgenland with Archie and Murphy. It was simply breathtakingly beautiful. I'll be upfront with you: we didn't get up to much — we mainly unwound and relaxed.
Get ready for a photo dump, because I couldn't get enough of the sunrises and the view. But there are also a few tips for the surrounding area waiting for you ;)
Welcome to Weinloft 2 on the Eisenberg

The Eisenberg lies right on the Hungarian border and belongs to the "Weinidylle" region of southern Burgenland. The small village of the same name winds picturesquely from the foot of the hill up through the steep vineyard slopes to the ridge.
At the top of the mountain road you'll find Weinloft 2 — a modern interpretation of the traditional Kellerstöckl. Across 40 m², concrete meets wood, blending tradition with contemporary architecture.
We park our car up by the road and make our way across a short grassy slope onto the terrace and through the entrance of the Weinloft.
The view over the Pannonian Plain lets your gaze roam endlessly and carries you off into daydreams. The sunbathing deck nestled among the vines beneath the walnut tree is just as inviting a place to linger as the freestanding bathtub up on the mezzanine.
Exactly what a proper relaxation holiday calls for.

The Facilities and the Interior
Here at Weinloft 2 too, hosts Martina and Ronald succeed in providing everything you could need for a luxurious self-catering holiday.
The living area is furnished with a sofa bed, a pull-out table, 2 chairs and a wood-burning stove. In the stylish kitchen I find everything I need to cook and treat us to something special. To the left is the bathroom, and to the right a wardrobe room where we can stow our clothes, cases and all the rest.
Over the next few days we have breakfast on the terrace with its fantastic view. The outdoor seating set is perfect for this — and equally perfect for coffee and cake in the afternoon, which we treated ourselves to from Aloisia's Mehlspeis & Kaffeestubn.
For reading on the shaded terrace there's also a dedicated sun lounger, by the way ;) — or two comfortable relaxation chairs to choose from.

The Highlights of Weinloft 2
Next to the double bed, waiting for me up on the mezzanine, is the FREESTANDING BATHTUB. Again with that dreamy view towards Hungary.
I honestly can't tell you how much I loved that bathtub!

Another little touch of perfection is the sunbathing deck nestled among the vineyards. The small broom waiting there to sweep away leaves, walnuts and twigs is just as thoughtfully considered as so much else about the Weinlofts.
And then there's nothing left to do but arrive, lie down, unwind and soak up the view once more!

Highlight number three for me is without question the sunrise over the Eisenberg. See for yourself:

The Surroundings of Weinloft 2
Evening Walkies in the Kellergasse of the Eisenberg
Our evening walk is a lovely "Eisenberg loop". It takes us along the mountain road to the upper Kellergasse and back again via the "Burg". Along the way you pass the "Weinblick" viewing platform, which you already know from this post.
On our loop we discover things untouched by time, like an old wine press, meet friendly locals who can't resist flirting with Archie and Murphy, and enjoy the cool, peaceful stretch of woodland before heading back to Buschenschank Eder.

Forest Walk at the Foot of the Eisenberg
From the Vinothek Eisenberg we set off towards the forest. The nature park in the Weinidylle takes us a little way up towards the Tschaterberg. As these are the first hot days of the year, we keep it to a short, leisurely loop.

The four of us simply revel in the "forest bathing" and drink in the fresh spring greenery and the sounds of nature.

*** This review of the accommodation is a purely personal assessment and perception.
The stay was very relaxing and wonderfully dog-friendly.
Something I simply didn't want to keep from other dog owners. ***
